Minoru Mochizuki holds the rare distinction of having studied directly under both Jigoro Kano and Morihei Ueshiba, two of the most important martial artists in Japanese history. In 1951, he became the first person to demonstrate aikido in Europe, traveling to France where his comprehensive martial knowledge — spanning judo, aikido, karate, and kobudo — left a lasting impact on the European martial arts landscape.
