Choy Lay Fut
蔡李佛
Choy Lay Fut (Cai Li Fo) is a southern Chinese martial art founded in 1836 by Chan Heung, who combined techniques from the Choy, Lay, and Fut lineages. Known for its long-range strikes, sweeping arm movements, and powerful low kicks, it is one of the most widely practiced kung fu styles in the world. It emphasizes fluid circular motions, aggressive footwork, and the use of both open-hand and fist techniques.
Choy Lay Fut builds full-body coordination, explosive power, and cardiovascular endurance. Its wide, circular techniques develop flexibility and range of motion while its combat-oriented training sharpens reflexes and timing. The style is practical for self-defense and offers a rich weapons curriculum for those who want to go deeper.
