Q: CAN OTHER MARTIAL ART SCHOOLS PARTICIPATE IN ATA TOURNAMENTS?

Friday February 5, 2010

A: No they do not. I have fought in one many years ago because I just happened to be working out at the only TKD school in the area while I was in college and got an ATA member card. I won it easily and I was a mediocre competitor in the real circuits. They do not open their events up to avoid this happening in front of the brain washed students who think the ATA is a real martial art and that they are real champions...none of it is true. The ATA is a scam. They bilked people for money and teach nothing that is true martial arts. They are the biggest joke in the world and I will, have done so, gladly tell any one who trains with them or is a black belt with them that they are nothing...including all their higher ranked idiots who demand to be respected...to them I have to say...EARN IT by learning the real deal and get off your fat butts and prove you are good on the dojo floor.

A: The ATA is closed to having anyone that is not ATA registered enter their tournaments. They do not want their students to compete in non ATA events. They do not let anyone train, visit, or teach at their schools. Of the many Tae kwon Do organizations the ATA is the only one that the Koreans in Korea do not recognize. As such The Koreans in Korea do not recognize ranks issued by the ATA. There are many other problems with the ATA and its strong arm tactics in recruiting students. They charge very high fees for testing. They have sub standard requirements compared to the average martial arts school. They promote student often. They have something like 15 color belts before black belt. The have what they call a recommended rank. They require students to attend mandatory seminars. What many people don't know is that the ATA instructors have a very restrictive contract that they must adhere to in order to be an ATA instructor. One of many requirements is that the instructors must promote a minimum number of students regularly through the ATA. If they don't they are penalized. NOTE: A few months ago someone posted a link to a Youtube video of an ATA class doing forms. It showed several black belts. Some were 3rd or 4th degree black belts. The video showed just how bad the ATA students really are as well as the impractical forms they do. Shortly after the link to that video was posted on Y/A, someone removed the video from Youtube.......... In the last 42 years of martial arts training and research, I must say that the ATA is one of the worst McDojo in the U.S.A. The bottom line here is that the ATA is one of the most expensive and worst quality martial arts chains that exist.

A: the ATA does not say that it's practitioners are too deadly. if that is the "official" reason, show me a link.

A: No, they are closed tournaments for ATA members only. Also they are forbidden to participate in any Open tournaments. Their official reason is that "The style of Tae Kwon Do they teach is so deadly that the untrained run to big of a risk of serious injury or death if they try to compete against a trained ATA practitioner" Now the real reason is they do NOT want their students to realize that the art they practice is absolutely worthless for anything but a show. We used to call them Tae Kwon Do killers. My question is why would you want to?
